9 Best Beaches in the Twin Cities
We love our summers in Minnesota! What beats a day at the beach with friends? Not much! Because Minnesota is the land of 10,000 lakes, you don't have to go far to get in a good day at the beach. Here are some of our favorites:
1. Lake Minnetonka
One of the most talked about and active lakes for swimming and boating in the Twin Cities. You don't need to know someone who lives on the lake to get in. Visit the public swimming area for a great day at the beach.
2. Lake Bde Maka Ska (Formerly Lake Calhoun), Minneapolis
Great for jogging, picnics, sand volleyball or swimming. Lots of beach areas to choose from too. Another one of the most active beaches in the Twin Cities.
3. Lake Harriet, Minneapolis
A bit more private, but super close to Lake Calhoun. This lake is even better for kayaking, paddle boarding or other lake activities.
4. Square Lake, Stillwater
5. East Cedar Beach (Hidden Beach)
Long a favorite of locals.
6. Hidden Falls, St Paul
7. Fort Snelling Beach, Minneapolis
8. Phalen Beach, St Paul
The second largest beach in Minnesota. Lots of various activity options to do.
9. Elm Creek Park, Maple Grove
Nestled in with some great options for play areas for the kids too.
Outstate Options:
10. Quarry Park, Waite Park (near St. Cloud)
11. Park Point Beach, Duluth
